Home Fragrance

When we first moved into our new rental home right away I noticed it smelled of sweet synthetic vanilla which I discovered was wafting from reed diffusers. Having an aversion to cheap synthetic smell, (not an allergic reaction, I just find them too overpowering), I removed the diffusers and haven’t though about them since.

Until yesterday. I remembered that experience of walking into my home and having that first sensual impression. I wondered if I could recreate it, but with natural oils, so I concocted a simple mixture of lavender, ylang ylang and geranium in a carrier oil alcohol with alcohol and waited.

So far the mixture smells fantastic from close up but the aroma doesn’t throw very far, I might need to add more essential oils. I can see how pure 100% botanical fragrances add up in cost and why all the fragrances you buy in a regular store are synthetic. But I’m drawn to natural scents and I need to discover what is possible to create with them.
